As a new start-up business we considered a few different Accountant companies. Shorts were the most pro-active in offering the details of their services and indeed were the only company throughout the UK to contact us following our registration at Companies House.
Their range of services has been explained in a simple and easily understood manner. This in turn impacted on our own internal accounting systems leading to greater efficiency (and ultimate cost savings). Our ability to submit VAT Returns quickly and accurately is an example of this.
Shorts provided the software and training for the SAGE package that we now use and provide invaluable ongoing support and advice on an ad-hoc basis. This has been carried out directly in our office which gives the added benefit of having all documents to hand to give an accurate solution to problems and has enhanced our understanding of the software so we can relate directly to the problematic issues.
For all tax and company deadlines (personal tax returns, corporation tax, Companies House etc) Shorts have been in touch (in a pro active manner) well in advance of the event which allows plenty of time to collate information without the added pressure of imminent submissions to authorities.
Their advice and guidance is prompt and objective and from our point of view reliable and trustworthy. They have been able to understand our business quickly which for us is key in the confidence we have with them.

Just a quick note to say how useful the Month End Reporting Pack has been. Apart from the in depth figures - which really help keep an eye on where we are, the graphs show at a glance how we are doing month/year to date.
The fact that they are individual sheets and headings mean we can show the team how the company is doing without divulging any information we don't want them to be party to.
Sales charts for the sales force, overheads for all staff - so they can keep an eye on phone usage, electricity, fuel costs for the drivers all help to point out where we need to pay attention.
